How to treat pain related to the hamstrings?
After ACL reconstruction, various changes occur in the hamstrings, and this is not only true for patients for whom a hamstring graft was used. Weakness of the gluteus maximus could contribute to hamstring pain and cramps during rehabilitation or after returning to sports. The hamstrings will compensate for the gluteus maximus weakness and become too dominant during hip extension and femoral external rotation. The only thing we miss at this point, is a plan to address these hamstring complaints.
