About Bas Bertrand, MSc.Bas Bertrand (MSc.) graduated as a bachelor physiotherapist in 2007 from Hogeschool Zuyd at Heerlen. His thesis subject was the determination of the optimal resting time during isokinetic leg extensions (Cybex) at 60º and 90º. After several years of work experience, it was clear to Bas that his interest was huge in field of sports. Therefore, he started the Master Sports Physical Therapy NPI/AVANS+ in Arnhem/Breda. Were he obtained in 2014 his Master degree.
Together with Bram Schepers is Bas owner of (Sport)Fysiotherapie Bertrand - Schepers . Within the practice Bas is focused on (sports) injuries to the hip, knee, ankle and shoulder.
Bas has been working with orthopedic clients since 2007, but specialists and doctors in the area also know where to find him. There are good contacts with specialists in the surrounding hospitals (Zuyderland and MUMC+), where Bas regularly attends a ACL operation, an orthopedic consultation or there is an consultation with colleagues in the field of orthopedics. Collaborations with medical specialists, doctors and clients are an essential part of his work in order to provide the highest level of care for his patients. There is also a membership within the knee network and trauma network Zuid Limburg.
Bas has a passion for knee problems and especially ACL injuries. Unfortunately he was also a patient, therefore he understands all the emotions his patients go through. Whether you're a top athlete or a recreational athlete, the goal is always the same! Returning at a realistic level the athlete is willing to play.
In order to have a successful rehabilitation , the (Sports)Fysiotherapie Bertrand - Schepers practice is set up with the optimally equipment needed for success. Besides training equipment from Technogym, Rogue and Keiser, we also have a Kineo at our disposal. With a Kineo you can perform specific tests such as isokinetic tests that have the same validity and reliability as the golden standard.
The requirements for return to play are high. It needs to be optimally. A period of at least 9 months, sufficient strength (in relation to body weight), jump tests, specific field tests but also mentally the athlete must be ready and have the confidence in his knee to participate in his sport again.
“The requirements for return to play are high. Good is not enough, it has to be optimal!”
